The National Organization for Governance and Local Development Support continues its activities under the project "Enhancing the Legal Framework for Decentralization in Libya," hosting a roundtable with the Coordination of Libyan Parties and members of the House of Representatives at the headquarters of the National Labor Party in Tripoli. During the session, participants discussed the Coordination's vision for local governance and the decentralization system in Libya. The discussion focused on Law No. 59 of 2012 on Local Administration, with most agreeing on the need for new legislation to regulate local governance, enhance the authority and powers of municipal councils and provinces, and establish a decentralized system that facilitates citizens' access to services and promotes transparency and accountability, thereby preserving state resources. The participants also agreed to maintain ongoing communication and broaden participation, with the submission of written proposals to the legislative authority. The organization welcomed this initiative and committed to collaborating with the Coordination of Parties and all interested parties.
