Partnership Begins with Dialogue… Local Governance Network in Yafran Meets with the Municipal Council

As part of the outcomes of the “Enhancing Participatory Democracy in Local Authority Legislation” initiative, the Local Governance Network – Yafran held an introductory meeting with the Yafran Municipal Council on Monday, 13 July 2026. The meeting aimed to build a partnership that strengthens communication between the municipality and citizens and promotes the principles of local governance. The meeting addressed several issues that the Network is working to advance, most notably the activation of a citizen complaints mechanism and the holding of open municipal sessions to promote transparency and community participation. The participants also discussed mechanisms for communication and institutional cooperation between the municipality and the Network. The Municipal Council welcomed the continuation of dialogue, and both sides agreed to hold an expanded meeting on 20 August 2026, with the participation of a larger number of Municipal Council members and representatives of the local community, to continue the discussion and develop practical steps to strengthen cooperation. Building effective local governance starts with dialogue, trust, and joint action. The Local Governance Network seeks to serve as a bridge between municipalities and citizens, contributing to the development of local administration and strengthening community participation.
