The city of Yefren concluded on Sunday evening a specialized workshop organized by the National Organization for Governance and Local Development (NOGLD) under the title “From Reality to Aspiration: Towards Participatory and Transparent Local Governance.” Held on April 4–5, 2026, the workshop brought together members of the Yefren Municipal Council, university professors, civil society representatives, and local activists. The discussions focused on current legislative gaps, particularly the lack of effective transparency mechanisms, weak accountability structures, and limited community participation in local decision-making. Participants also explored pathways for legislative reform, emphasizing the importance of creating frameworks that guarantee citizens’ rights to oversight, participation, and accountability. NOGLD affirmed that the workshop’s outcomes will serve as a valuable contribution to shaping new legislation, stressing that just laws must be drafted with the involvement of the communities they govern.
