Meeting on Decentralization and Municipal Financing

A meeting was held today 21 July 2022 with Mohamed Abuhaliqa, Advisor to the Minister of Local Governance, to discuss the recommendations of a study on the decentralization of powers in Shahat and Zliten municipalities, supported by DRI Germany. The discussion covered the ministry’s efforts in transferring services such as waste management, environmental sanitation, and transportation, as well as municipal financing and enhancing local revenue collection. Participants also addressed the role of international organizations, particularly the "ISAL" project, and the importance of coordination to ensure the success of initiatives in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Governance.
