Zliten discusses the role of civil society in proposing development projects

As part of the conclusion of the advocacy initiatives for the recommendations of the study on "The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Supporting Community Participation and Cooperation," overseen by the German organization DRI, the project team organized a community dialogue session on Saturday, August 6, 2022, in Zliten Municipality under the title "The Role of Civil Society in Proposing Development Projects." The session was attended by several members of the municipal council, including Dr. Mustafa Al-Bahbah, Ms. Kholoud Abusenina, and Dr. Ayada Ashour, representing the Office for Women's Empowerment, along with several civil society organizations and local activists interested in development issues. The participants discussed the study's recommendations regarding the activation of civil society organizations' role in proposing development projects, highlighting Zliten Municipality's pioneering experience in involving youth and women in the "Zliten 2030" plan. Several youth and women participants expressed their relative satisfaction with their level of involvement in planning processes, calling for more opportunities to present their proposals and attend municipal council sessions. The council members welcomed these comments, assuring that they would be taken into consideration in future municipal plans.
